How this calculator works
- Income tax (PAYE): 10.5%, 17.5%, 30%, 33%, 39% bands for 2026-27. There is no tax-free amount in New Zealand.
- ACC earners’ levy: 1.75% of pay up to $156,641.
- KiwiSaver: the minimum rate is 3.5% from 1 April 2026. It comes out of your pay after tax.
- Student loan: 12% of what you earn over $24,128 a year.

Is there a tax-free threshold in New Zealand?
No. You pay 10.5% from your first dollar, up to $15,600.
What is the KiwiSaver rate in 2026-27?
The minimum for employees and employers rose to 3.5% on 1 April 2026. You can also choose 4%, 6%, 8% or 10%.
How much is the ACC levy?
1.75% of your earnings, up to a maximum of $2,741.22 a year.
