| Rate | VAT | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard rate | 20% | most goods and services |
| Reduced rate | 5% | home energy, children's car seats |

How to add VAT
Multiply the price by 1.2. For example, £100.00 + 20% VAT = £120.00.
How to remove VAT
Divide the total by 1.2. It is not the same as taking 20% off. For example, £120.00 ÷ 1.2 = £100.00 before VAT.
Quick UK method: the VAT inside a price that includes 20% VAT is 1/6 of it. £120.00 ÷ 6 = £20.00.
