Frequently asked questions
How much is my student loan repayment?
9% of everything you earn above your plan’s threshold (6% for a Postgraduate Loan). On Plan 2 the threshold is £29,385 a year, so on £35,000 you repay £505.35 a year.
Which student loan plan am I on?
Plan 1: most English and Welsh students who started before September 2012, and Northern Ireland students. Plan 2: English and Welsh students who started between September 2012 and July 2023. Plan 4: Scottish students. Plan 5: English students starting from August 2023. Check your Student Loans Company account to be sure.
Can I repay two loans at once?
Yes. If you have a Postgraduate Loan as well as an undergraduate loan, you repay both at the same time. Tick both boxes in the calculator.
